Sub-areas of Practice

Within the major areas of services we provide are several sub-areas of practice that are highlighted below:

Litigation

Our litigation practice spans all other areas of practice. Most cases we take on involve business, commercial and corporate disputes in the Courts of Common Pleas and District Courts (including Philadelphia Municipal Court) in Philadelphia and surrounding Pennsylvania Counties. We are also licensed and have practiced in the United States Court of Appeals (Third Circuit) and United States Federal District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. We will also consider personal injury defense cases on a case-by-case basis.

Zoning and Code Compliance

As an integral part of both of our real estate and business law areas, zoning and code compliance is a necessary service. Zoning, in particular, requires knowledge of local practice before zoning boards including issues likely to be raised at any hearing. Code compliance often requires immediate action to avert a shutdown of operations and civil penalties.

Intellectual Property

We provide counsel and services in matters of intellectual property, including registration and licensing of trademarks and copyrights, trade secrets and other confidential information. We help our clients identify their intellectual property and to take steps to both protect it and extract value from it.

Wills and Powers of Attorney

Because we provide personalized services, we are often asked by our business clients to draft wills, living wills, powers, of attorney, health care directives, and to provide estate administration and probate services. In doing so, we strive to provide detailed, efficient, complete, effective and secure documents. Often, we are called upon to educate our clients as to the meaning and purpose of our recommendations for meeting their goals. We find that this gives the clients a chance to reflect on their goals and the means in which they intend to achieve them.

E-commerce and Cyberspace Law

Our services extend into the e-commerce and cyberspace areas. E-commerce services include commercial transactions, internet contracts, website issues, copyright and trademark law, fraud, and consumer privacy. Other related areas include software licensing and equipment acquisition and leasing.

Employment Law

Our services include employment and executive contracts, independent contractor agreements, confidentiality agreements, non-compete agreements, civil rights including ADA, unemployment compensation, employment policies and procedures, and employee handbooks.

Entertainment Law

We also provide contract services for the entertainment industry. Entertainment law services are focused in the music and independent film industries. I provide counsel and representation for artists, bands, songwriters, recording companies, filmmakers, producers, and management in matters of industry practice, business law and contracts. Services include: protection of assets, copyrights, trademarks, bandmember agreements, business formation, and management, production, recording, and distribution agreements, also agreements for personal appearances, engagements and tours, songwriter agreements, soundtrack agreements, mechanicals licensing and merchandising agreements.
